The 2024 annual general meeting of the Woodworking Association of Pretoria will take place on Wednesday, 31 January 2024 at 18:00 at The New Hope School, Ashleigh Gardens, Pretoria.

One of the main agenda points of the annual general meeting is the election of a new management committee.

The process that will be followed for the 2024 election is:

All members are invited to submit nominations for the position of chairperson and seven committee members before midnight on Thursday 25 January 2024.

A proposer must first obtain the candidate’s acceptance. A nomination will therefore contain at least the following three pieces of information:

i. The position for which the candidate is nominated, i.e. chairperson or committee member.

ii. The name of the candidate and confirmation that he/she accepted the nomination.

iii. The name of the proposer.

Nominations must be sent to Conreel du Toit and / or the secretary, Willem Semmelink via email or via WhatsApp/SMS (to Corneel at 071 689 9721 or Willem at 083 443 0757).

The annual general meeting also provides a platform where the members can make proposals or raise and address problems. In view of this, I would like to urge you to attend the annual general meeting. The agenda for the 2024 meeting, the minutes of the 2023 AGM and the Draft Financial statements are attached. The chairman’s report will be made available before the meeting.

If you cannot attend the meeting, please complete the proxy form (attached), and return it to me or the secretary, Willem Semmelink.

The committee consist of 8 members, yet we only have 6 nominations so far. So even though the nominations have closed, you are still welcome to send in further nominations please.

For those members that will not be able to attend the meeting on Wednesday, please remember to complete the Proxy form and send it to Willem or myself.

For those members that have not paid their fees for 2024 yet, please do so ASAP that we can finalise the membership list before the meeting.
